If I remember correctly, I believe this is the first 7" single of Kate's to be turned into a Picture Disc. Previous to this was the Picture Disc version of The Kick Inside album. I always thought it was a bit of a shame that Kate didn't create more picture discs with albums or singles. Picture Discs are really cool to look at, and I think it would have added another element to her releases. But I have heard pressing Picture Discs are a little more tricky to do, so maybe that's why. I've also heard some fans complain through the years that Picture Discs don't have the same sound quality or they're a bit wonky. Personally, I think that's a load of rubbish. I've never had any sort of problem with a picture disc, and they sound exactly the same as regular vinyl.
I guess the one downside to picture discs is that they're normally issued in a clear pvc sleeve, and I find that a little cheap. There has been the odd time when a picture disc also came with the addition of an insert, like with the 12" of Rubberband Girl, or the 7" of This Woman's Work, but normally you don't usually get this. Just a cheap pvc sleeve and nothing else. The one for The Big Sky does come in a clear pvc sleeve as well, but I didn't bother to take a pic of it or scan it because it would have been a waste of time. I find them to be very unattractive, cheapening the overall presentation of the picture disc - but that's just how I feel.
