December Will Be Magic Again - Rare Christmas Card 1980

I don't often take this one out because it's old and really starting to wear out in some places - especially along the fold. What I have here is a pretty unique, and extremely rare Christmas Card from 1980. It was privately pressed by Kate for personal use, and not commercially available. If you've never seen this card before, now you know why.

The front of the card features an extended version of the single's artwork by Nick Price, including more of the night sky and rooftops - something that isn't present on the released single artwork. There's also one very interesting alteration on the card version. If you take a look at Mr. Moon, you'll see that he's smoking something that looks conspicuously like a joint. It's possible that it's intended to just be a cigarette, but I'm still leaning towards it being a joint simply because it would tie-in with the hallucinogenic mushrooms sitting on top of the reindeer.

The fact that I even found one of these cards years ago in a unused state is pretty odd in itself. Cards like this one were usually printed in smaller numbers and distributed all signed by Kate. Had this card been signed inside, I guarantee it would surpass the signed Red Shoes Christmas Card from the '90s in price.

The inside of the card has the title of the song printed as a greeting and the back of the card has an art credit at the bottom for Nick Price. It's printed pretty lightly, so I've done my best to get a decent shot of it. The card measures 9" x 6" and has a slight glossy finish to the surface.

It's doubtful that this one will ever turn up online for sale. I've only ever seen one of these cards turn up once in the past decade or so. Kate's personalized Christmas Cards tend to go for ludicrous amounts of money these days.

Dutch Booklet 1980s

Here’s a little oddity that I know absolutely nothing about. It was given to me years ago by a friend who was dispersing his collection at the time. All I can tell you is that it’s an 8 page booklet, which measures 7” x 7” and is printed in Dutch. The inner front page and the full back page are completely blank. There’s three full pages written in Dutch, which covers Kate up until The Dreaming, so I think it’s fair to say this booklet dates to around 1982. The front of the booklet features a nice colour photo of Kate – which is the same photo that can be found on the back of the UK 7” single for The Dreaming. It's also much lighter than you see here. I had to darken it up for these scans. The inside of the booklet also has one b/w photo of Kate from The Dreaming era.

The booklet doesn’t feature a copyright or any distribution information anywhere on it, so I honestly have no idea if this is something that was commercially available or made for promotional purposes. Since "perspromotie" does mean "promotion", I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say this was some sort of promotional booklet.
