4 Sucessos - Brazil 7" Single (4 Track EP)

This is the first in a series of two Brazilian produced Various Artists EPs to feature a song by Kate. A second Various Artists EP was later issued, as were two additional EPs which were marketed exclusively as Kate releases. All 4 EPs can be found on this site.

As with the case with the other releases, this one also comes in a thicker card sleeve. The record labels are also pretty identical to the UK issued ones from that time.

Unfortunately, the labels on this particular copy are in pretty rough shape; they suffer from discolouration, fading and even bleed issues from the paper glue. I had a lot of difficulty taking half decent scans, particularly with the B side. Sometimes older paper labels can prove to be problematic in very specific ways. It doesn't often happen, but I have seen a few examples of this throughout my life. A culmination of different factors can be involved in this happening: defective paper, glue not properly cured, environmental conditions or simply age.

This was the second of two Brazilian Various Artists EPs to feature a song by Kate. The first one featured Wuthering Heights, but I never bothered to look for that one.

This is a thicker card sleeve, and the record labels are pretty identical to the UK ones at the time.

Released in 1978, this Brazilian 7” single (4 track EP) features 3 songs from Lionheart and 1 song from The Kick Inside. It’s also another very rare picture sleeve that’s extremely difficult to come by these days.

This is another stunning picture sleeve of Kate, which is made from thick card stock. The front artwork is also repeated on the reverse side of the sleeve. The photography on this one is also by Gered Mankowitz, in case anyone is wondering about that.

In total, Brazil issued four different 4 track EP singles. Two of these were exclusively Kate EPs (you can see the other one right here). The other two EPs were a mix of various artists, and Kate had one track featured on each of these EPs. All four of these EPs are extremely difficult to find now, but the two Kate ones have become the most difficult to find. When they do pop up, you can expect to pay some money for them.

Take note of how 'Symphony in Blue' is misspelled on the record label, yet it's correctly spelled on the picture sleeve.

The sleeve is made from a thick card stock, similar to the really early UK singles, and the front artwork is also carried onto the back side of the sleeve. In case anyone is wondering, the photography on this one is by Gered Mankowitz. Personally, I think it’s a stunning photo of Kate.

The record has the same two tone tan and red record labels as the UK releases at that time.

This single/EP is a rare one, and if you’re looking for it, you can probably expect to pay a nice chunk of money for it. So fair warning on that.
