Answers To Nothing was Midge Ure's second solo album. If you don't know who Midge Ure is, you're broken inside. This is the first U.S. issued CD, but distributed through Columbia House. It differs slightly to the copies that were sold in retail stores at the time, but not much.
Released on Chrysalis Records, first issue copies in the U.S. have the catalogue number VK 41949, both on the CD and the back insert. Copies intended for sale in the stores had the distribution number DIDX 3510 and those sold via Columbia House had DIDY 3510. Also, on the back insert for the Columbia House release is also printed CRC, which is simply short for Columbia Record Club. This is also printed on the disc.
First issue releases sold in retail stores came in a longbox format, whereas the ones sold through Columbia House weren't. My guess is any CDs sold through Columbia House were taken out of the boxes to save on shipping costs since it was a mail order service.
I got this at the time simply because of Kate's contribution to Sister and Brother, which is a fantastic track. There was no internet in those days or download services, so if you wanted a certain song from any album you just had a buy it or tough luck! Midge Ure always talks highly of Kate and how much she elevated the track anytime he's asked about it. It's probably one my favourite collaborations.
Additionally, the 2010 Deluxe Version of Answers to Nothing also contains the alternate 7" single edit as a bonus track. There are other Best of compilations and Box Sets that contain the song, but I'm not rhyming all of that off. I'm sure you can download it these days, or at the very least, listen to it on YouTube if you've never heard it.
Again, apologies for the terrible photos, but this is only temporary. These will eventually be replaced with scans when it's possible.
